2nd Video Assignment: Show your target audience what you got
The second video to create in this challenge is to solve a problem for your target audience.
Why are we doing this?
Because your channel needs to have ONE clear purpose. For example:
“Joe’s channel is about quitting 9-5 and building a solopreneur business”
Also, because you want to position yourself as the expert. You want to be the recognizable face that talks about your niche topic.
And not just by rambling about it, but by providing ACTIONABLE STEPS that your target audience can take right now to make their lives better.
By doing that, you become a trusted authority over time.
Let's start! Fill in the missing parts X, Y, Z, etc. and feed this to ChatGPT.
Hi! Today I need your help in creating problem-solving content ideas for my target audience on YouTube. My target audience are [X], who are struggling with [Y]. I want to help them to to go from A – complete beginners, to B – [Z, dream outcome], who are [enjoying benefit 1] and [enjoying benefit 2]. Ask me two questions to specify my niche and positioning, and then, list 10 major problems or milestones these people face on their way to point B that I can help them with. Thank you!
→ Write your answers, and grab the list of 10 video ideas. Save them on a file called ’10 A2B ideas’.
✍️ Write your second script
2. Choosing your first A2B video & Writing the script
Guess what? Now you have a great outline for a LEAD-GENERATING content funnel. And we’re not even talking about promotion or detonators yet!
⇨ In fact, most solopreneurs fail to create this essential content on their channels.
✓ If you do ONLY these 10 videos, you’re already ahead 90% of your competition.
So which topic to choose first?
- Likely you can start from idea number 1! – Or if you already have that video, just go down the list and pick the first one your channel doesn’t have yet.
- Write a script outline with these headings –
- Ask the big question – call out your target audience
- Promise a solution by the end of the video
- Introduce yourself
- How I solved this problem – my transformation story
- Why this is important to you
- How you can solve this problem (Ideally in 3 steps)
- Take action & watch more of my videos
- Write a draft (include your personality) – Own it. Share your story. Inject emotions and drama.
→ Write your answers, and grab the list of 10 video ideas. Save them on a file called ’10 A2B ideas’.
Give this prompt and paste your draft to ChatGPT:
Alright! Here’s is my first draft for a problem solving video. Please review it (but do not rewrite it). Give me some ideas if I missed something important that would add value, or if we can raise the stakes to make it more personal and impactful: [paste your draft here]
→ Don’t let AI to rewrite the whole thing. Keep your voice.
→ Take the advice and edit the final script.
3. Shooting your video
Hey, done is better than perfect.
Stop telling yourself that you need a fancy studio, an expensive camera and a personal make-up artist before you can post more videos on YouTube.
Sorry to be blunt, but those are just excuses. Only the VALUE of the content matters.
And what is VALUE? People talk about it often, but few define it.
Value is utility (not production quality).
If what you are saying will give the viewer an Aha moment, and he can then improve his life, that’s the ONLY thing that matters. That is the value.
Set it up and hit record
Just get these things right and you’re golden:
- Clean the lens of your camera
- Place your phone/webcam/camera on a tripod
- OPTIONAL: Use a teleprompter to make reading the script easier
- Stay close to the camera or microphone to avoid excessive room echo
- Have an open expression and positive energy.
Don’t worry about bad takes. I have dozens of bad takes in every video I make. Laugh at them.
4. Editing
These type of videos don’t need fancy editing.
I would keep them as simple as possible, to make it easy to follow.
Like a straight line. From A to B.
Problem ⇢ Solution
Especially, if you’re new to editing, keep it simple to get it done.
Just add some overlay texts, simple cuts and transitions.
5. Upload and share
Just keep going. You got this.
For writing a title, How to… always works. Another version is How I…
Think about it like this:
Your ideal client has this problem in the back of his mind when he opens YouTube.
Does your title clearly communicate solving that problem? If yes, keep that.
These don’t need clickbaity hyperbole titles. Quite the opposite.
Same goes for the thumbnail. Follow the same principle you saw in the first week’s module.
Will these blow up your channel? Probably not in terms of views, but they will do much better job at converting views into leads than chasing random viral video ideas.
Let's hit record and do it!
Well done completing this module.
This video is a foundation stone for your channel.
Go film it with intention and purpose.
Once you got your video uploaded and published on YouTube, share it in the group!
By making all the 10 videos, you will be miles ahead the competition.
They can get thousands of views over time. And that’s all they need.
See, this content is like your personal clone army sales team.
They will keep bringing your target audience into your world. They will build trust and familiarity.
They will prepare your ICP (Ideal client profile) to take action on your PROMOTIONAL VIDEOS.
A2B videos are the cornerstone of your channel. They are the mid-funnel content to your target audience.
